As expected, the highest percentages of cultivated land are reported from the North China Plain. Shanxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Guizhou, Hubei, and Heilongjiang have also a relatively high percentage of cultivated land. The reason why Sichuan has a lower than average percentage of cultivated land is the relatively high percentage of mountains and grasslands in some parts of the province, which are unsuitable for cultivation. |
