Between 2006 and 2008, the United States of America increased wind power by more than 13 thousand megawatts, followed by China with 9.6 thousand megawatts. Denmark, which has already exhausted its capacity for wind turbines, had the smallest increase of the 10 countries with the largest installed capacity in wind power.

In per capita terms, China was the world leader in newly installed wind power (however from a very low per capita level). The USA increased its per capita wind power at the same rate as France.
